Deepam oil
"Deepam oil" typically refers to oil used in traditional Indian oil lamps, also known as "diyas" or "deepams." These lamps are often used in religious ceremonies, festivals, and other cultural occasions in India and other South Asian countries.
The oil used in these lamps can vary, but traditionally it is made from materials such as sesame oil, mustard oil, ghee (clarified butter), or sometimes even coconut oil. These oils are chosen for their ability to burn cleanly and steadily, providing a steady flame for the lamp.
The choice of oil can also hold cultural or religious significance. For example, in Hindu rituals, ghee is often considered sacred and is used in lamps for auspicious occasions.
In modern times, commercial preparations of lamp oil labeled as "Deepam oil" are also available in stores, typically formulated to burn cleanly and without producing excessive smoke or odor. These oils may contain a blend of vegetable oils or other ingredients optimized for lamp use.
